Our story, your journey.
Focus was started to help people with disability live a life with room in it — by people who’d already been through it in their own families, and knew exactly how hard support is to find and how easily it disappears.
Why we exist
It was our family too.
“You set the goals. We help you get there.”
Focus Disability Support Services was set up to help people with disability live lives of abundance and opportunity — not a phrase we borrowed, but the thing the founders went looking for and couldn’t reliably buy.
Disability was already in their family and their close circle. So was the wearing part: workers who didn’t turn up, a new face every fortnight, being handed a service catalogue when what you needed was someone to sit down and listen. Focus was built on empathy, trust and security because those were the three things that kept going missing.
We’re a small provider and we intend to stay one. It’s the only way a support worker genuinely knows the person they’re turning up for — their routine, their family, what a bad day looks like and what to do about it.
- Empathy
- The people who started Focus had disability in their own family and their own circle first. Nobody here needs the situation explained from scratch.
- Trust
- Same worker, same time, same week after week. Reliability isn’t a feature of the service — for most families it is the service.
- Security
- A registered provider with a real address you can walk into, staff we train ourselves, and nothing about your plan you can’t check for yourself.
How we work
Every provider says they care.
Ours spells it out.
“We Genuinely Care.” isn’t a line we picked because it sounded good. It’s five values, written down, so you can hold us to them.
Compassionate
Unwavering dedication to helping every person reach their own goals, with support and guidance rather than instruction.
Accountable
We stand by our participants at every step. If we say a worker is coming at nine, a worker comes at nine.
Respectful
Every person, regardless of ability, culture or background, is treated with dignity and professionalism.
Encouraging
We help participants set goals that are genuinely achievable — and then we help them get there.
Dedicated
We go beyond the plan when it matters. Every time, not just on the good weeks.
The people
Who’s actually in the room.
Our Operations Manager is a qualified pharmacist with more than ten years in mental health, including working alongside people living with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. When something clinically complex comes up in a plan, that experience is already in the building — not a referral away.
The support workers are ours: recruited by us, trained by us, and rostered so the same faces come back. If we can’t staff something reliably we say no, rather than send a different stranger each week.

Our own front door
A place you can walk into.
Most providers can only describe what they do. Ours runs out of 18 Browning Avenue, Lakemba — a centre we staff ourselves, where the day program, the kitchen and the group activities happen. Ring first and come and watch a session.
Checkable, not just claimed.
We’re on the NDIS Commission’s provider register, our reviews are published under real names, and the address above is a real building with our people in it.
Talk to a person
Start with a phone call.
The fastest way to find out whether we’re right for you is twenty minutes on the phone with someone who actually does the work.
